HIS survival is considered something of a miracle, but it’s how he came into the world that really has people puzzled.
The baby named Xiao Zhao was orphaned after his parents were killed in a horror motorcycle crash on the way to the maternity ward.
While he miraculously survived, some witnesses claimed the newborn was actually ejected from his mother’s womb with the impact of the collision.
Mao Zhau, 42, was taking wife Wang Zhau, 40, who was in labour to hospital when their bike was hit by a truck in the Chinese province of Xiamen.
The newborn was found at the side of the road near his mother following the crash and was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.
Police spokesman Chan Chien told UK newspaper The Mirror some eyewitnesses said that the boy was born after his mother gave birth on the spot following the accident.
“Others said that the baby, which was a healthy 4.2kg, had been thrown out of the woman’s belly and had landed three meters away,” he said.
The driver of the truck has reportedly been detained by police.
It is not yet known what will happen to the orphaned boy who has already been inundated with gifts and money following the tragedy.
