American Idol tonight is a Results episode, in which we’ll learn which of the Top 10 competitors received the fewest votes. That person will be eliminated tonight. Last night, the competitors sang songs they chose from the Billboard Top of the Charts.
The host of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest, said “the Top 10 did not disappoint last night.” Then, he introduced the three judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr. Jennifer Lopez was wearing a very short, sexy, gold dress. She will be performing later tonight!
Ryan showed us a peek at the competitors as they ate dinner and discussed the show. There were some light-hearted moments as they recalled some things last
Malaya Watkins, Dexter Roberts, and Jessica Meuse were the first three competitors that Ryan called up onto the stage. We saw a recap of how each of them did, and the reactions of the judges and Randy Jackson to the performances.
Florida Georgia Line wished Dexter “Good Luck” in a video message. Ryan said that after the nationwide vote, “Jessica — you are safe.” He then said that Dexter will “cruise — to the stools” because he is in the Bottom Three tonight. Malaya is “safe.”
J-Lo will perform right after the first commercial break of the night. It should be a pretty interesting performance — I’m guessing that she will be singing her latest song, “I Luv Ya, PaPi.”
Back from break, J-Lo said that the first time she heard one of her songs on the radio, she was in New York in a cab with friends. Harry Connick , Jr., introduced her — she will be singing “I Luv Ya, PaPi,” as I thought. She is on stage with other women, gossiping, at the start of the song.
I liked the song more than I did, just seeing a brief glimpse of of the video; but, i’s still pretty repetitious. She and the other dancers looked as HOT as ever, though, which helped A LOT.
The audience were on their feet, screaming and cheering throughout the song. The audience erupted in applause as she finished singing, and gave her a standing ovation — then American Idol went to another commercial break.
When American Idol came back, it was Keith Urban’s turn to reminisce about when he first heard himself singing on the radio, He said he was on tour passing through a small town in Australia. Harry Connick, Jr., said, jesting, that he “co-wrote the song.”
Ryan said that it’s time to hear more results from last night. Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose York, and Alex Preston were the three he called up onto the stage. They each gave wonderful performances last night, so I’m not sure how any of them could be in the Bottom Three of the voting.
Ryan said “Alex — after the nationwide vote, we have one direction for you. That is — head on over to the lounge. You’re safe.” Ryan then announced that Majesty was in the Bottom Three, and Caleb was “safe.”
The will be more results on American Idol coming up, Ryan promised; but, first, there was another commercial break — yuck.
After the break, Harry Connick, Jr., talked about the time he heard himself on the radio. The results, and comments from people who heard him, were not as encouraging as he’d hoped.
Then, Harry introduced a group that he really liked, Royal Teeth. They will be singing “Wild.” The male singer looks pretty young, maybe just 16 or 17. The audience clapped with their hands over their heads the entire song.
I’d never heard this song before, but it sounded pretty good. They really had the audience pumped up, and dancing along, and the light show was also cool-looking — then, at the end of their performance, confetti was dropped from the ceiling. Keith Urban gave them a standing ovation.
Ryan introduced himself to the band members, and asked the audience if they “enjoyed it.” The crowd gave a resounding “Yes!” as their answer. Then, American Idol went on yet another commercial break.
Ryan Seacrest then talked about the first time he was on the radio — he did not think he’d done very well at all.
Sam Woolf, C.J. Harris, MK Nobilette, and Jena Irene were the next four competitors who Ryan called up onto the stage of American Idol. The judges were harsh on both MK and C.J., so I’m guessing one of these two will be the third person who will be on the stools tonight.
Ryan said: “C.J., the nation voted and sided with Hunter — you are safe.” He also said that Jena was “safe,” and then he went on to say that Sam was “safe,” so MK joined Majesty and Dexter on the stools.
We’ll learn right after the next commercial break which of these three will have o sing for his or her life, and possibly for the judges’ “Save” which they haven’t yet used this season.
Back from break, Ryan read off the first person’s name who will continue on — Majesty! It’s now down to Dexter and MK. Ryan said that “the person who will sing for the judges’ ‘Save’ is MK.”
Ryan said that MK was talking with Ricky Minor, discussing her song. Then, she sang what might be her last song on American Idol –”All of Me.” J-Lo looked very emotionally wrought as she listened. MK did a TERRIFIC job singing but, will it be enough to earn her a “Save” from the judges?
Ryan asked for the judges’ decision. The audience chanted: “Save her! Save her!” and “Please, save her!”
Harry Connick, Jr., said that “it has to be unanonymous, and it’s not unanonymous.” MK, sadly, will be going home tonight. She had a good run, and her performances were memorable. She will, of course, be still singing with the others who made it into the Top Ten group when they go on tour this coming summer, and I’m sure that she will continue on and get signed by a record company soon — good luck with all of your future endeavors, MK! Please watch American Idol with me next week, and come back here to read my Recap/Review!
