SYDNEY-siders may have dragged their heaters out to cope with the 11-degree temperatures and single digits in the city fringes at the beginning of May, but now a warm spell is on its way.
Sydney is set to enjoy highs of 24 over the next week thanks to a high pressure system sitting over South East Australia.
Jake Phillips, senior forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology says: “The high pressure system is blocking the movement of cold fronts reaching the NSW region.”

For the next week our skies will be clear and blue with these stable conditions bringing less chance of cloud coverage and rain.
The average temperature during mid-May is usually 12-20 degrees, but Mr Phillips says Sydney-siders can look forward to temperatures four degrees higher than average during the day, with the temperature still cool overnight.
These maximums are being exceeded all around NSW. In the west- around Cobar, Bourke and Broken Hill- temperatures are five to six degrees above average for the rest of the week.
But don’t get too comfortable. Mr Phillips predicts more significant cold fronts coming through after this week.
